How did it start
In 2016 companies started hiring ML Engineers really fast, but the no one knew what to ask. It was a mess.
I remember interviewing at a small company which rejected me and interviewing at Adobe, where I got a very similar job.
But even at Adobe, I remember being on a hiring committee where a principal engineer asked a leetcode question so hard that he did not know the answer to it. Me and another colleague on the team each solved it independently, but it took 4 hours for each of us. How was the candidate to come up with it in 1 hour?
Over the years at Adobe I tried to understand how to hire the best MLEs and eventually set up all the interview rounds for my team.
Eventually I was looking for a new challenge and started prepping for interviews myself. It was hard, and I could not find any good resources to help me prepare at more senior levels. As I put together my reparation strategy I started helping others.
Still interviewing was so hard that when I had a few offers I picked Twitter: the most stable out of them, as I thought...
And then 2😱22 happened!
I needed a job and FAST! My quickest option was Meta, as recruiter has already reached out to me, though for a role that seemed a bit more junior than I would have liked.
In the next two weeks I smashed the Meta interviews and got an uplevel I wanted to E6 all while working full time at Twitter and being present in full measure for my family.
This shifted how I thought of helping others prepare for their interviews. After leaving Meta I saw many talented engineers struggle to get to the next step in their careers. The job market was no longer the same as when I got hired, but to my surprise...
My methods still worked and they worked well!
2024 was not the easiest year to land a job in tech, yet of the people who worked with me 89% landed a new gig at their desired company. That's 150 people!
